The novel that had to be written about Catholic Church sex abuse of children.
'Sociopaths hate people. Psychopaths do something about it.'
Synopsis: To all who meet him, Paul Hurley is a hard-hitting Irish businessman whose agenda includes clinching multi-million-dollar investment deals with international corporations, while maintaining an active sex life with glamorous women. Just beneath the successful playboy demeanor, however, lies a vulnerable Irish schoolboy who’s harboring a heartbreaking history of physical abuse and sexual devastation at the hands of the Christian Brothers entrusted with his upbringing in Dublin.
Now, Paul tracks down and dispatches pedophile priests as part of his personal mission for divine retribution. Will a chance meeting with Roy, a manic psychopath on his own terrorist crusade to bring the Catholic Church to its knees, be enough to deliver Paul from his own evil?

REVIEWS FOR 'RELIGION SEX VIOLENCE' (KINDLE and SMASHWORDS)
Review by: Michelle Carroll on Aug. 23, 2011 : This book is different than anything I've ever read. At first, I was a little confused, as to what was going on, but once everything clicked, I knew I was in for a great story.
Religion is something that intrigues me, likely because I'm not a religious person myself. The author puts a creepy spin on the topic that makes it even more intriguing.
Yes, the sex and violence are graphic but it adds to the story. Think of it as a car wreck that you can't look away from!
Review by: Sam Adams on Aug. 22, 2011 : I first read this a month or two ago on my brother-in-law's computer. As the following review suggests, this is not an easy story to forget. So today, I got my own. And I want to tell you about this book. Because it deserves to be read.
Religion Sex Violence is a book that is going to stick with you for quite some time. And it's not the sex scenes that will do it. It is the mind of the protagonist, Paul. He knows how to get under your skin, and you're just the reader! you can't imagine how he gets under the skin of the people he implements revenge on...
Paul Hurley isn't just a businessman, Irish, without a care in the world other than to squash the next competitor and win over the next beautiful woman he sees. No, his life, his REAL life and agenda is constantly being formed by his past. A very bad past with things done to him by people he should have been able to trust the most.
This is not some fluff piece of writing. This is not just a bunch of sex scenes (although the sex can be graphic... but sex often is.) This is a full-length novel, more than 300 pages on my full-size eBook reading screen. This is a book that will overtake your own life, mind, and spirit while you wrestle with the ideas inside and while you peek at the evil in some men's hearts. As well as peek at the hurt in other hearts caused by that evil.
Patrick Flanagan sure has a way with plot and dialog. You will forget you are reading a book within a few sentences as you find yourself looking into the otherwise-private confessional box. And this story will grip you ESPECIALLY if you have a Catholic upbringing of any kind (the good or the bad kind...).
And this story will not leave you soon. It stays with you. The best ones always do.
Review by: Tim P on Jan. 26, 2011 : Well written, plenty of depth, absorbing, and literally very good. I found myself anxious to get back to it after each interruption – despite the confronting sex. Paul is not your run of the mill psychopath. He is a complex character with many facets and once I got to know him better I found him to be a good bloke! I think there is more in this .... sequel?
Review by: Captain Haddock on Dec. 22, 2010 : It took me a while (too close to an emotional bone) but must congratulate you on the book. I'm afraid I was too effected by the goings-on here so will re-read it later when I'm in a better mood. The subject matter is a very open sore here in Ireland....but I love your solution! Well done.
Review by: Hugh Gyton on Dec. 19, 2010 : I concur with Mick Dee. This is a great read that is hard to put down. The use of language and detail is sublime. The story is gripping. Sure the sex and violence is gratuitous, and at times a little confrontational, but it is in keeping with the characters and the story. Really enjoyed it and couldn't put the iPad down. Can't wait for the next one.
Review by: Mick Dee on Dec. 12, 2010 : This is a really good book !
An interesting web of stories based around child abuse in the Catholic Church. Flanagan has a great eye for detail and a witty, well researched and intelligent dialogue.
The sex scenes were a bit too detailed for my taste and in some cases they were just too weird (OK so I'm just square). Overall though the book was real page turner and beautifully crafted.
