Gold Coast based natural health and beauty company, Ellen Jay, has signed an exclusive $9.5 million distribution deal with New Zealand’s largest pharmacy and health store wholesaler.

Crombie and Price, who service all the 800 pharmacies and 300 health stores throughout New Zealand, will distribute the company’s natural personal body care range including its flagship product The Invisible Glove barrier cream.

Ellen Jay managing director, James Redding, says while the company has been selling to New Zealand for some time, it has been primarily through online and phone order channels from its Australian distributor.

“This arrangement will exponentially increase our sales volumes to New Zealand from a few thousand products a year to hundreds-of-thousands,” Mr Redding says.

“While New Zealand is a smaller market compared to Australia, the sales volume will be significant enough to make a huge difference to our annual output.

“The process of setting up an international distributor will also pave the way for a number of other international markets we are currently in negotiations with.”

Ellen Jay forecasts the supply of almost half-a-million units within the first year, with demand expected to increase in line with Australian sales figures.

Crombie and Price also supply and promote their product range through other pharmacy wholesalers, department stores and the 300 plus supermarkets of New Zealand.

The deal comes on the back of Ellen Jay signing contracts with two of the country’s largest pharmaceutical distributors earlier this year.

Ellen Jay has agreed to supply its range of products to both Symbion Pharmacy Services and the Sigma Pharmaceutical Group, which combined represent over 7,500 chemists Australia-wide.

The company has realised stellar growth over the past two years including taking larger production facilities in Loganholme and the purchase and installation of new manufacturing and bottling equipment to meet increased demand.

Ellen Jay’s The Invisible Glove has been praised by medical professionals including dermatologists and allergists for its special skin protection properties and has caught the attention of the New Zealand media.

The products have been featured on Australian national current affairs programs and have recently been shown on New Zealand’s TV3 Campbell Live program.

One of the product’s many uses is to protect the skin from irritation, allowing it to naturally heal and has proven useful in a wide variety of circumstances including common skin complaints such as eczema and dermatitis.

Their product range also includes a body wash, shampoo, decongestant and insect repellent.

All products are 100% safe for people and the environment, are made solely from natural plant extracts and are entirely free of solvents, petroleum or other mineral products, artificial colours or perfumes, animal products and animal testing.

Ellen Jay Health and Beauty started as a home based business in Rockhampton in 1990.
