Only two days remain to enter The University of Queensland Business School (UQBS) Enterprize 2011 business competition.

Aspiring entrepreneurs are reminded to lodge their concept business plans by tomorrow, Friday July 22, to be in the running to win $100,000.

For the past 11 years, Enterprize has assisted many innovative businesses with seed capital. Past winners include:

2010 winner, Melbourne-based Southern Innovation, which is hoping to see its revolutionary technology on the market before the end of this year. Its digital pulse processing technology speeds up the way data is analysed in devices which detect and measure radiation, such as X-ray machines, CT scanners, and equipment which detects drugs, explosives and landmines.

2009 winner CoolMe, a disposable, lightweight vest which creates an intense cooling effect, to ease heat stress suffered by firefighters and others working in extreme conditions.

2008 winner Bilexys, a resource recovery technology that extracts valuable chemicals from a company’s wastewater. These chemicals can be reused, saving money and reducing the business’s carbon footprint.

2007 winner Codesion (formerly CVSDude), a cloud-based computing services company. By 2009 Codesion had achieved global success with about 3400 customers in 90 countries and 70,000 active users. Recently Codesion was sold to CollabNet, one of the world’s largest names in the software development tools industry.

Academic Dean and Head of the UQ Business School, Professor Iain Watson, said the School was excited to be at the forefront of innovative business and to be able to promote and foster Australian startups.
