Twenty local job seekers from a range of Job Services Australia providers have participated in the ‘Caboolture Ground Works’ venture in conjunction with the Federal Government’s National Green Jobs Corps initiative.

For close to six months, ten MAX Employment clients joined in with others to create an improved environment for PCYC Caboolture, Burpengary Riding for the Disabled and Kabultur Eastenders group.

The participants planted garden beds, maintained a nursery, built pergolas and mended fences. They also built a basketball court for the PCYC venue which will be used and enjoyed by many.

As transport presents a problem for many unemployed job seekers, PCYC Caboolture was committed to ensuring these participants could complete the program by providing a car to help them get to and from the project sites.

MAX Employment client Terri Harbourd-Meade is appreciative of the support and encouragement saying, “It’s an energetic environment where everyone wanted to be involved. It’s been heaps of fun”.

Graduates will receive a Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management, a Blue Card and First Aid Certificate as well as a range of skills and experiences that no piece of paper can offer.

Managing Director of MAX Employment, Mr Michael Hobday, is pleased to see the participants embrace the initiative.

“Past results from National Green Jobs Corps projects have shown a diverse impact on participants. The program provides a forum for job seekers to network and make friends, earn recognised certification, instil positive work ethics, develop new skills and experiences and build confidence and self esteem” Mr Hobday comments.

The official Graduation Ceremony will be held 11am on Wednesday 27 July, 2011 at PCYC Caboolture, 2 Toovey Street, Caboolture. All welcome.
