Norfolk Island Travel Centre is inviting visitors to one of the best vantage points for the solar eclipse and to enjoy a week of astronomy with James Barclay. On 14th November the sun will be 98% eclipsed by the moon the unique conditions on Norfolk Island should be excellent.
Astronomer James Barclay says Norfolk Island is ideal for astrophotography because the island has no light pollution. "The night skies are so dark," he said, "The whole island is bathed in starlight from horizon to horizon".
On eclipse day the group will tuck into a BBQ breakfast before sunrise prior to assembling their equipment, on a private property overlooking the ocean.
During the evenings visitors will marvel at the green laser pointer guided tour of the night skies and the close up view of stars and planets by powerful telescope. Photographers will have the opportunity and tuition from James to take award-winning day, night and astro pics from various scenic spots around the island.
